Good Morning Bangladesh 2006, raised $6313.90

Good Morning Bangladesh was organised by the families of the Bangladeshi Community on May 7, 2006 at Village Green, Blacktown , the amount of money raised being $4047.90. Another one was held at Glenfield on May 14, 2006, the amount of money raised there being $2266.00. This is a unique morning breakfast program, held annually, for raising funds for the Cancer Council NSW. Many families donated different items of food for this program. Dr. Abdul Haq expressed his view that more money can be raised in the future if a few more venues can be selected within Sydney. Amount of money raised in the past years: Year 2006-$6313.90, Year 2005-$3200.00, Year 2004-$2190.00, Year 2003-$1335.00, Year 2002-$1257.60 and Year 2001-$900.00. Dr. Monoj Das, a Brilliant BUET student, of Rockdale, passed away (Inna lil...) at St. George hospital on Saturday at midnight. He died as a Muslim (Name: Minhas Kabir) and his namaje Janaja will be held at Lakemba Main Mosque on Monday 15th May, 2006 after Zahar Prayer (12:00-12:30). He left his two daughters Progya Priya (age 8) and Prapti Priya (age 11) and his wife. We pray for his departed soul and sympathise with his daughters and his wife. Details... -Helal Morshedi

145th birth anniversary of poet Rabindranath Tagore

Sur-O-Dhwani music school presented a musical program on the 145th birth anniversary of poet Rabindranath Tagore on 29th of April 2006, at St. Albans church Hall, Epping. The program commenced with the guest artist, Chanchal Khan from Melbourne followed by Sur-o-Dhwani’s performance. This program included solo, chorus, dance and narration performances. The invited artist, Sri Durbadal Chatterjee, one of the most respected instrumental musicians in Kolkata and Bangladesh, presented a memorable performance at the end and everyone enjoyed the night.
