Celebration of Durga Puja in Sydney
Devout Hindus celebrated their greatest extravaganza of Hindu Durga-pujas at various locations in Sydney on 8th and 9th of October, many people attended this event on both days. This year the puja was bigger than ever in Sydney and the people were in a very festive mood and enjoyed the occasion extremely. The special prayer was performed for the fight between good and evil so that the dark forces will hopefully eventually surrender to the divine forces.

On 1st October, 2005, Bangladesh Music Scool held their annual competition this year again for singing, dancing, poetry recitations and the newly introduced drama category. The program started with a speech from the founder, Dr. Monjur Hamid Kochi, a student from the Musical School and Paramesh Bhattacharya, on behalf of parents. The program started with a presentation from the students of the Music School which was followed by the main competition. On 2nd October, 2005, a small get together was held in honour of Mubarak Hossain Khan. Mubarak Hossain was DG in Shilpokalo Academy, Director of Bangladesh Radio and Chairman of the Nazrul Institute. He was also the Executive Director of the Human Development foundation and is also a famous sharad player. Mubarak Hossain did a lot of research in classical music and wrote many books. Campbelltown Bangla Mela-2005
On 24th September, 2005, there was a mela held at Ingleburn organised by BWSC. The mela was opened at 11:30 am by. H.E. Ashraf-Ud-Doula and there were many nicely organised stalls selling food, clothes and jewellery. During the day there were performances by children followed by speeches given by the invited guests. Citizen Natok- A Successful Production By Sydney Nattyam
On 18th of September 2005, Sydney Natyam presented the Citizen natok at Science Theatre, UNSW. The show started with speeches by the chief guests, including H.E. Asraf-Ud-Doulla, Peter Garrett, Federal member, Dr. Abdul Wahab, Ruhul Ahmed Ruhul and some organisers. This was followed by a cultural performance by local artists including a group and some solo songs and some dances. After the dinner intermission, the comedic natok Citizen, written by Bellal Hossain Dhali, started. The natok was directed by Azizul Hakim and Shaheen Sha-newaz.
