Boishak at Olympic Park, 1416
Bangabandhu Parishad Australia organised a Boishaki Mela on the 18th of April 2009, at Homebush Olympic Park Athletics Centre. This was the 4th mela in this ground. The weather was perfect, attracting hudge crowd. There were many distinguished guests present at the mela including Bangladesh High Commissioner H.E. Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury; Federal MPs and ministers. The mela started at 12:30pm and ended at 9:00pm. During the day there were numerous programs such as children’s performances, recitations, a fashion show and performances by bands, cultural groups and local artists. Mahmuduzzaman Babu came from Bangladesh as a special guest artist. The mela ended with a spectacular fireworks display.
