Reception Dinner for IEB officials from Bangladesh -2018 on 14/10/2018

There were few delegates including general secretary Engr. Md. Monjur Morshed, Vice President Engr. Md. Nuruzzaman (Admin & Finance), and Engr. Kazi Khairul Bashar Honorary Asstt. General Secretary (Academic & International Affairs), Khandker Farah Zeba, Member Secretary (IEB Mohila Committee), Engr. Md. Didarul Alam, F.ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers, President), from the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) headquarter (HQ) Dhaka visited Australia for attending in an international conference. IEB Australia chapter hosted a dinner party for these honourable delegates on Sunday the 14th October 2018 at Sydney's famous restaurant Jesmins, 375 Macquarie St, Liverpool, NSW 2170. There were over 50 engineers and families attended in the dinner within only three days invitation notice.

 

The program starts with a Quran recitation by Engr. Mr.  Shafiq Shuvo and then Bangladesh national anthem by all participants.  This was followed by chairing of IEB Australia chapter's President and general secretary Engr. Abdul Matin and Engr. Dr. AHM Kamruzzaman, IEB head quarter's general secretary Engr. Md Monjur Morshed, Vice President Engr. Md Nuruzzaman, AGS Engr. Kazi Khairul Bashar, Khandker Farah Zeba, Member Secretary (IEB Mohila Committee), Engr. Md. Didarul Alam, F.ASCE.  The honourable guests were welcomed with flowers by Engr. Jesmin Keya, Engr. Hasan Ziad, Engr. Shafiq Shuvo, Engr. Salim Ahmed and Engr. Mohammad Chowdhury (Jetu) . A brief history of IEB Australia chapter's formation on 2012 was then addressed by past convenor Engr. Mr. Saiful Islam.

 

In line with the objectives of IEB Australia chapter and to inform honourable IEB HQ delegates, Dr. Kamruzzaman delivered a presentation on the topic “Challenges and ways forward for future engineers-IEB Australia chapter's initiative". Dr. Kamruzzaman addressed various challenges including applying for the full signatory of Washington Accreditation status of BD engineering universities and how IEB Australia chapter can be of help for the accreditation process. The presentation was also focused on the continuing professional development of BD engineers living in Australia, and an arrangement of a free CPEng seminar for 120 engineers on 4th of December 2018 in cooperation with Engineers Australia (EA) was declared. The delegates were excited with the contents of the presentation and committed to present the information in the upcoming IEB HQ meeting. Subsequent to the presentation, Engr. Md. Didarul Alam, Khandker Farah Zeba, Engr. Kazi Khairul Bashar, Engr. Md Monjur Morshed, Vice President Engr. Md Nuruzzaman each of them delivered a short speech on "How IEB and Board of Accreditation for Engineering  Technical Education (BAETE) is working  on Washington Accreditation process". They are hoping that Bangladesh will get full accreditation by 2020. Thereafter, few prominent engineers from the IEB Australia chapter's executive committee including Engr. Dr Rafiqul Islam, Associate Professor Engr. Dr. Ataur Rahman, Associate Professor Engr. Dr. Abdur Razzak, Engr Mr. Siddiqur Rahman and Engr. Mr.  Shafiq Shuvo handed over small gifts to the honourable delegates.  The closing remarks speech was delivered by Engr. Abdul Matin with the emphasis given to various mission and vision of IEB Australia chapter. Engr. Sadia Afrin nicely hosted the program. At the end of the dinner, a short cultural program was initiated by the famous singer Mrs. Amia Matin.
